Apr. 28, 2025: Ferrosilicon Latest News(6672, -28.00, -0.42%) : Supply: The output of ferrosilicon continues to decline. According to data from China Steel United, as of the week ending April 25th, the weekly output of ferrosilicon was 98,900 tons, with an average daily output of 14,140 tons, a 1.4% decrease compared to the previous week. The reduction in production in the main production area of Ningxia was lower than the previous market expectations.

Demand: The mainstream steel bidding pricing has decreased month-on-month, and the downstream's willingness to purchase and stock up is limited. In April, the mainstream steel bidding purchased 75B ferrosilicon at 5,950 CNY per ton, a decrease of 230CNY per ton compared to the previous month. The volume was 1,700 tons, a decrease of 183 tons compared to the previous month. The rest of the steel bidding is being carried out successively, with prices mostly ranging from 5,950 to 6,000 CNY per ton.

Inventory: The inventory of ferrosilicon sample enterprises decreased month-on-month, but it still remained at the median level of the same period in history. The inventory of ferrosilicon in steel mills is still relatively low. As of April 25th, the combined inventory of 60 sample enterprises was 83,700 tons, a decrease of 11,200 tons compared with the previous period. In April, the available days of ferrosilicon inventory in steel mills were 15.44 days, a decrease of 0.82 days compared with the previous month and basically unchanged compared with the same period last year.

Cost: The cost of the main raw materials for ferrosilicon production has remained relatively stable this month. Among the main raw materials for ferrosilicon production, the price of small pieces of blue carbon has remained stable this month, around 655CNY per ton in Shaanxi region. Electricity price costs in Inner Mongolia and Ningxia regions have been reduced. Data from China Steel United shows that as of the week ending April 25, the electricity price for ferroalloy production enterprises in Inner Mongolia was approximately 0.415CNY per kilowatt-hour, a decrease of 0.015CNY per kilowatt-hour compared with the previous month. The electricity price of ferroalloy production enterprises in Ningxia region was approximately 0.415CNY per kilowatt-hour, a decrease of 0.02CNY per kilowatt-hour compared with the previous month.

Summary: The production cost of ferrosilicon is gradually decreasing, and the fundamental support is limited. In the future, pay attention to the reduction or suspension of production in the main production areas. At present, ferrosilicon lacks strong favorable factors to support it. Weak terminal demand is one of the main influencing factors. Although the production cost of ferrosilicon is gradually decreasing, the immediate production profit of the main production areas is still negative. In the future, production reduction is still needed to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand. It is expected that the short-term ferrosilicon futures price will still mainly fluctuate at a low level. Pay attention to the subsequent reduction and production suspension situation of the main production areas.
