Steelmaking

Manufacturing Process Of Ferrosilicon Briquette
Raw Material Preparation
The main raw materials for ferro silicon production include silica (SiO2), coke (C), and iron ore (Fe2O3) or scrap steel. These materials need to be crushed, screened, and dried to achieve suitable particle size and moisture content.
Electric Furnace Smelting
The pre-treated raw materials are mixed in the proper proportions and then placed into an electric arc furnace for high-temperature smelting. In the furnace, silica and coke undergo a chemical reaction to produce ferro silicon and carbon monoxide gas. This process occurs at high temperatures, typically between 1500°C and 2000°C, and consumes a large amount of electrical energy.
Melting and Refining
At high temperatures, the ferro silicon alloy melts and is further refined to remove impurities such as oxygen, sulfur, and phosphorus. This step is crucial for improving the purity and quality of the ferro silicon.
Casting and Cooling
The molten ferro silicon alloy is poured into molds and allowed to cool and solidify, forming block or granular ferro silicon products.
