The main contract closed at 5,864 CNY per ton, up 0.62% from the previous period. The open interest of the main contract decreased by 1,237 lots to 385,500 lots compared with the previous period. The market price of 6517 silicon manganese is 5,550-5,800 CNY/ ton. In Inner Mongolia region, it has increased by 20CNY/ ton compared with the previous day, and in Ningxia region, it has also increased by 20CNY/ ton compared with the previous day. Yesterday, the overall trend of the black sector was relatively strong, and the center of gravity of silicon and manganese futures prices shifted upward accordingly, but the increase was relatively low. There has been a new development in the mainstream steel bidding. The first round of inquiry price for silicon-manganese alloy at a large steel plant in Hebei Province in May was 5,700 CNY/ ton, compared with 5,950 CNY/ ton in April, a decrease of 250CNY/ ton compared with the previous month. The purchase volume in May was 11,600 tons, the purchase volume in April was 11,400 tons, and the purchase volume in May 2024 was 8,080 tons. The purchase volume increased compared with the previous month. Keep an eye on the latest pricing situation. On the cost side, the price center of manganese ore at ports has slightly risen recently. Data from China Steel United shows that yesterday, the price of semi-carbonic acid from South Africa at Tianjin Port increased by 0.7CNY/ ton-kilowatt-hour compared with the previous period, while the price of Gabon ore rose slightly by 0.3CNY/ ton-kilowatt-hour. There is some support on the cost side. Overall, market sentiment has warmed up recently, driving the short-term silicon and manganese futures price center upward. However, from a fundamental perspective, the upward space is relatively limited. It is expected that the short-term market will still mainly fluctuate.
