On Monday, the futures price of ferrosilicon fluctuated and strengthened. The main contract closed at 5,174 CNY per ton, up 0.58% month-on-month. The open interest decreased by 3,261 lots to 223,800 lots month-on-month. The spot consolidated price of No. 72 ferrosilicon in all major production areas is approximately 5,100-5,150 CNY/ ton. In Gansu and Qinghai regions, it has decreased by 50CNY/ ton compared with the previous day. Yesterday, the black sector's performance was slightly differentiated, with the overall amplitude narrowing and the price center of ferrosilicon moving slightly upward. From a fundamental perspective, some ferrosilicon producers in the region have resumed production recently, with weekly output rising by more than 14% month-on-month to 97,300 tons, indicating a significant increase in supply. On the demand side, the weekly demand for ferrosilicon from sample steel mills and the available days of ferrosilicon inventory in steel mills are both at relatively low levels for the same period in history. It is expected that the current situation will be difficult to change in the short term. On the cost side, the prices of the main raw materials for ferrosilicon production have remained stable recently. The spot production cost of ferrosilicon in Qinghai region has slightly decreased, while it has remained relatively stable in other regions. Overall, with a month-on-month increase in supply and considerable room for improvement in demand, the fundamental driving force of ferrosilicon is relatively weak. It is expected that the short-term operation will mainly remain at a low level with fluctuations. Attention should be paid to changes in market sentiment and the progress of mainstream steel acquisitions.
