Magnesium desulfurizer

Magnesium desulfurizer is a desulfurizer widely used in iron and steel smelting, its main components include:

Magnesium particles: accounting for 88% to 96% of the total mass of desulfurizer, is the main active substance of desulfurization reaction.

Protective film: accounted for 4% to 12% of the total quality of the desulfurizer, by high temperature resistant materials such as MgO (magnesium oxide), MgCl2 (magnesium chloride), CaO (calcium oxide), marble, cryolite, etc., used to protect magnesium particles in high temperature environment is not too fast oxidation, thereby improving the desulfurization efficiency and the service life of the desulfurizer.

 

Calcium carbide desulfurizer

Calcium carbide desulfurizer is another desulfurizer commonly used in iron and steel smelting, and its main components include:

Calcium carbide (CaC2) : As one of the main active ingredients of desulfurizer, calcium carbide reacts with water vapor at high temperatures to produce acetylene and calcium hydroxide, and calcium hydroxide reacts with sulfide to produce calcium sulfide and water, so as to achieve desulfurization.

Calcium oxide (CaO) : also known as quicklime, is an important part of the desulfurizer, can react with sulfide to produce calcium sulfide, to achieve the purpose of desulfurization.

Silicon dioxide (SiO2), iron oxide (Fe2O3), alumina (Al2O3), magnesium oxide (MgO), carbon (C), etc. : These components also play a certain role in the desulfurization process, such as improving the activity, stability and reaction rate of desulfurizer.

 

Other desulfurizers

In addition to magnesium desulfurizers and calcium carbide desulfurizers, there are some other types of desulfurizers are also used under specific conditions, such as alkaline desulfurizers (the main component is sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, etc.), acidic desulfurizers (the main component is sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, etc.) and oxidizing desulfurizers (the main component is sodium oxide, potassium oxide, calcium oxide, etc.). These desulfurizers are selected and used according to the specific smelting process and raw material conditions.
